About Dr. Bain

When you or your family need professional counseling, you want someone who has the training, experience, and compassion to deal with the crises of life! Dr. Steve Bain is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with individuals, couples, families, and children. He is well qualified to address the emotional and behavioral issues individuals and families face. For over 26 years, Dr. Bain has worked with churches, schools, universities, mental health providers, families, and individuals as they seek his professional counsel and expertise.

   Dr. Bain is certified as a F.A.M.I.L.Y. counselor to teach parenting/coping skills and intervention methods for parents with kids of severe behavioral disorders (ADD, ADHD, ODD, etc.). He is also certified as a “Crisis Management Specialist” which involves working with clients in severely stressed situations including suicide, abuse issues, PTSD (e.g., 9-11 trauma), and school and parental crisis intervention issues. Dr. Bain is also certified as an "Anger Management Specialist" and is able to help children, youth, and adults as they seek to manage anger.

   Dr. Bain holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of North Alabama, a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis, Tennessee, and the Doctor of Ministry Degree in Counseling from the Luther Rice University in Lithonia, Georgia. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an LPC-Intern Supervisor in Texas. He maintains an “eclectic” array of counseling techniques including Faith-Based Counseling, Behavioral Modification, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Reality Therapy, Life Coaching, and encouragement. Dr. Bain is sought after as a motivational speaker and consultant in school settings as he works with a number of South Texas schools and districts. He serves as an adjunct Professor at Texas A & M, Kingsville in the Department of Education Leadership and Counseling.

   In addition to his private practice, Dr. Bain has served the community as a sub-contractor to the Texas Department of Family Protective Services and is a member of the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Health Insurance Program (CHIP). He is also a Medicaid Provider and works with several major insurance plans. The majority of Dr. Bain’s counseling services are provided to children and adolescents and their families. His many fields of service include being a minister, counselor, consultant, adjunct professor, husband, and father. He and his wife, Janice, have five children: David, Stephanie, Stephen, Haley, and Ian.
